Avenue Q

Bethany, Chris, and I went to go see Avenue Q, which is one of the musicals that I have wanted to see in London, as it was previously a Broadway hit for over six years. It was super funny and really good!! It was just what we all needed with all the volcano business that was going on in London...a good laugh and a reminder of the US!

Avenue Q is inspired by Sesame Street where most of the characters in the show are puppets, and the set represents several tenants living on a rundown street in an outer borough of New York City. The puppets are controlled by actors onstage who are phenomenal at what they do, which includes, not only operating the puppet, but singing, acting, and changing their voices for different characters. A lot of the characters actually resemble the characters from Sesame Street but are in their 20's and 30's, facing adult problems such as racism, sexuality, and commitment.
The recurring theme is the main character's search for a "purpose". It really is a must-see musical!!
