Our home search lasted LONGER than we expected, with a total of 30 flats viewed!
We had a really nice re-location agent, Claire, who helped us feel somewhat at “home” and filled us in on many things we would start needing to know.
We had a really nice re-location agent, Claire, who helped us feel somewhat at “home” and filled us in on many things we would start needing to know.
Here are some of the flats we looked at…just to give you an idea of our options!
This flat was in Windsor, actually right across the river from the hotel we stayed at, in a good location…but not so desirable on the inside. Which was unfortunate, because it was on the 2nd floor with a great view!
This flat was in Richmond, which was one of the top 2 areas we liked, and you’ll see below that the bedrooms had plenty of wardrobe space and that the bathroom was so fancy and BIG. We just decided we didn’t like the dorm type feeling and the views were not so good out the back windows!
Check out these built in wardrobes in the master bedroom!
Another one in Richmond that we decided against, the exterior which was very new looking (although somewhat felt like a fancy retirement community) but was nothing compared to the older, a bit outdated interior!!
This flat was in Chiswick, which is the area that we did end up in, I’m not sure what you can say about this place, it had some kind of weird Spanish/antique theme going on (which was sort of a deal breaker considering we were looking at furnished flats)! If I remember correctly I think this was the one were the bathroom tile work wasn’t “finished” and apparently the landlord was “working on it” and a statement like that in the UK you HAVE to take “with a grain of salt”!
This shows a true representation that the washer/dryer combos are REALLY in the kitchen, although most were behind a cabinet!

This was the master bedroom…not sure my thoughts on this!!!
This was one of the last ones we looked at and unfortunately I have to say it was one that I found on the Internet while attempting to do my own research!! This is why the re-location company really turned out to be a great resource!! Thank goodness we had Claire and after we looked at this, she goes “I’m not going to say,I told you so”! Obviously they do quite a bit of screening before they showed us any roperties…really to make sure they fit what our most important criteria was…in this particular case it would just have been, ummm, CLEAN!!!
It looks nice, right??
The VERY small 2nd bedroom, as you can see…no bed!!
The master bedroom…yep that weird looking thing was the door to the closet…which I’m thinking Chris would not have been able to use!!
There was a weird shaped shower too…it was so narrow and awkward!
This was the living space which really wasn’t bad, I just couldn’t get past all the “stuff” everywhere…and this picture was only from one angle!
This was the kitchen, which actually was really nice and modern, however again couldn’t get past everything ALL OVER the countertops!!
This was the “unofficial” roof terrace….is this even safe??
I’m sure it’s not as bad as I remember and I could have “tidied” it up a bit, but it’s so hard to see past a person’s “crap”!!
