My 29th Birthday Weekend

FRIDAY

On our way to dinner & movie for my birthday!

Our dinner spot...we already love this Italian restaurant we found the 1st week we were here!!

We stopped at a pub to have a few "pints" on our way home from the movies...

and ran into this really drunk guy that started dancing all crazy...

so we decided it was probably time to head out!!

these really are the exit signs

SATURDAY
Chris had planned for us to go on a riverboat cruise down the River Thames which was very educational and gave us a great view of most of the London landmarks. It was also our 1st venture on the Underground train, the “tube”, and it was quite an experience! However, we quickly realized that our location is great for public transportation and for getting to lots of different areas in central London.

Here are some sights and popular London landmarks from the river cruise...

great view of the London Eye from the boat

Royal Festival Hall

view of St. Paul's Cathedral

Waterloo Bridge

OXO Tower
(was used for Oxo beef storage and it still remains a London landmark but with retail stores)

London Bridge Hospital

Silver Cloud cruise ship docked on the River Thames

London Bridge City Pier

Tower Bridge

City Hall (official home of the Greater London Council and the Mayor of London)

London Bridge

the garbage "rubbish" barge
(they fill up all the rubbish collected in London here & take it by water to a landfill down the river)

Unilever House (they make soap and margarine)
(been occupied by Unilever since the 1930's when the company formed from the Lever Bros Company)

City of London school

City of London school for boys in the 19th century, now occupied by an investment bank

Art Deco Shell Building (built in 1931)

Queen Mary's ship

this was an old ship that they turned into a bar on the river

view from the river of Big Ben and Houses of Parliament

the Movieum of London and the Sea Life London Aquarium

The boat tour stopped at an area of London called Greenwich. We got off the boat, walked around the town, and stopped for lunch at a mexican restaurant, Café Sol.

While we were at the restaurant, Chris was stalking down the waiter for sombreros.

SUNDAY
On Sunday we headed to the Abbott office so Chris could get some work done and I could get unlimited use of the Internet….still waiting for ours to be set up!!!

Doesn’t he look so happy “at work”?? He hides the stress well under his smile!!
