Last Week of School

The last week of school was both fun filled and crazy!! Here's some of the things that went on at school to wind down the end of the school year!!

{Friday 16th July}
Celebration "Tie" Assembly-at the end of each year students at St. Joseph's get awarded a special tie to wear with their school uniform the following year if they meet the criteria of getting 16 out of 19 Very Good effort marks on their end of year reports.

These are the Y4 tie recipients, I had 7 in my class!!

{Monday 19th July}
Last Monday morning assembly-which included the awards for 100% attendance for the entire year!!

{Tuesday 20th July}
Last P.E. lesson-the students had free choice and we played basketball "netball" and soccer "football" AND they had almost an hour and half outside...they were loving it!!

This was the last picture I took with all 28 students!

{Wednesday 21st July}
Tudor houses-over the last month our class had been studying the Tudor times and King Henry VII, so their final homework project was to make their own Tudor home. They then got to go around to the Y3 classes and show off their Tudor homes...as you can see NOT everyone in my class produced a house?!?!

{Thursday 22nd July}
Senses activity-you might remember when I did this activity with the Y1 class when they were learning about the five senses. I did the same kind of activity with my Y4 class, but a little more advanced. I had set up 6 different tables with something they would taste and smell.

Table #1: taste - chocolate cake rolls & flapjacks / smell - vanilla

Table #2: taste - tomatoes / smell - seasoning salt

Table #3: taste - carrots / smell - celery salt

Table #4: taste - apples / smell - cinnamon

Table #5: taste - blueberries / smell - garlic

Table #6: taste - rice cakes & cheddar cheese crackers / smell - chocolate

It turned out really well and they enjoyed it, especially as it was the 2nd to last day of school and were ALL ready to be finished with the school year!! They had some funny comments to describe the different smells, but surprisingly all very descriptive and relevant! I think they mostly enjoyed tasting everything including the leftovers!

{Friday 23rd July}
In my room, the "calm before the storm"! The last day of school was absolutely nuts. We started the morning off with the Leaver's Assembly, which is an assembly presented by the entire Y6 class sharing the memories since their first days of school. It was really nice and everyone gets a little emotional to see them go! The rest of the day was spent doing word searches, crossword puzzles, coloring, talking about Y5, watching a movie...whatever would keep them busy until the day ended!!
